palmer retreat

Nestled within a quiet wooded landscape, this modern retreat was envisioned as a future animal sanctuary—a place where architecture and nature work in harmony. Designed as the first phase of a larger master plan, the residence provides a warm, light-filled living environment today while anticipating the eventual addition of a barn and connector structure to support the property’s long-term mission.

The home’s simple gabled form and dark exterior palette allow it to recede into the surrounding forest, creating a calm and grounded presence on the site. Expansive windows, skylights, and carefully framed views bring the outdoors in, filling the interiors with natural light and a strong connection to the landscape throughout the seasons.

Inside, the design balances clean modern lines with warmth and livability. Natural wood tones, bright open spaces, and durable materials create an environment that feels both refined and relaxed. The layout was thoughtfully planned to support retreat-style living while remaining adaptable for future expansion.

More than a home, this project reflects a vision for stewardship, wellness, and the evolving relationship between people, animals, and place.
